The Vice Chancellor (VC) Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), Professor Babagana Gutti, has been honoured with the award of Vice Chancellor of the year 2026 by the ICTV24 a Maiduguri based online media.
The award presented by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ICTV24 Comrade Babagana Bukar was in recognition of the VC's outstanding contributions in terms of leadership to higher education in the realm of countering violent extremism in the region.
The award was presented to Professor Gutti on Monday, during a short ceremony held at the main campus of the University in Maiduguri, where members of management, staff and invited guests gathered to celebrate the rare achievement.
Babagana Bukar revealed that the award followed the unanimous approval of his organisation's council after assessing Professor Gutti's leadership, commitment to academic excellence, institutional development and above all countering violent religious extremism through education.
Responding after receiving the award, Professor Gutti expressed appreciation to the management of ICTV 24, describing the recognition as a honour for the entire University community rather than an individual achievement
He dedicated the award to the governing council, staff, students and the Borno State Government for their continued support, pledging to sustain reforms aimed at strengthening teaching, research, innovation and community service.
